DEFINE

PIRACY:For electronic and audio-visual media, unauthorized reproduction and distribution is occasionally referred to as piracy (an early reference was made by Daniel Defoe in 1703 when he said of his novel True-born Englishman : "Its being Printed again and again, by Pyrates"[2]). The practice of labeling the act of infringement as "piracy" actually predates copyright itself.
unauthorized use:Not having the right to use
intellectual property:intangible property that is the result of creativity (such as patents or trademarks or copyrights)
fair use:the conditions under which you can use material that is copyrighted by someone else without paying royalties
filesharing:is a method of distributing electronically stored information such as computer programs and digital media.
digital rights management: refers to access control technologies used by publishers, copyright holders, and hardware manufacturers to limit usage of digital media or devices. In contrast to copy protection, which only attempts to prohibit unauthorized copies of media or files[citation needed], digital rights management enables the publisher to control what can and cannot be done with a single instance. For example, a publisher can limit the number of viewings, number of copies, or which devices the media can be transferred to. Digital rights management is being used by companies such as Sony, Apple Inc., Microsoft and the BBC.

MODELING REALITY WITH VIRTUAL WORLDS

Virtual worlds can be used to have a sense of how things will be in reality. In Hollywood for instance, to shoot a movie called Tarzan, they used a system of virtual world instead of using real animals because someone already got hurt by a lion.
The benefit of these technologies to society is to experience a sensation that someone would like to have. In the CNN article iReport: 'Naughty Auties' battle autism with virtual interaction, it shows how someone can experience the world of autism.
The dark side of these technologies will be the fact that evil people can use it to do harm. Some new Adult virtual world goes 3 D. Even site like Sociolotron are not suitable to everyone. Virtual worlds will be more used in the future for construction to cut cost and avoids errors.

Social Networking

Social networking can be used to expand someone business and get new friends. Facebook for instance can be used to create a group with the same interest in finance.Hi5 can be used to find high school friends and the benefits are endless.
The benefit of these technologies to society is the sharing of information like the book” Infotopia: How Many Minds Produce Knowledge by Cass R. Sunstein suggested. Wikipedia is also an example and information can be access by a larger audience.
The dark side of these technologies will be the fact that evil people can use it to do harm. Child predators are using those social websites to lure their victims. However, I believe that these technologies will boom in the future because people always want to access information faster. Watching prometeus”The media revolution “,I am confident and sure that’s how tomorrow will be.

A blog is more personal unless you share your login informations to someone else. .Also blogs can have links only to external sites whereas wikis may have links not only to external sites , but also within the web page.
Commenting on the importance of convergence in today's networked world
Convergence is the concept behind wikis. In the book how many minds produce knowledge,it shows that with the help of internet people can solve many problems by sharing views, knowledge. In the New york Times articles by Matt Richtel, online content appears in elevator,in the back of your taxi or plane seat.
How can blogs be used for collaboration?
Blogs can be used for collaboration by letting users post their opinion. This would allow an outside reader to get different opinions on a certain topic. Although this sounds like a wiki, the major difference is that your post cannot be altered by anyone and therefore your opinion is voiced
